About This Campus
South Carolina State University (SCSU), home of the Bulldogs, is a Land-Grant HBCU founded in 1896 and proudly designated as an R2: Doctoral University with High Research Activity. SCSU offers strong academic programs in Business, Marketing, Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Visual and Performing Arts, Communications, Fashion Merchandising, and more. It is the only institution in South Carolina with an undergraduate Nuclear Engineering program. SC State University is a relatively small campus in the small town of Orangeburg, SC. There is a local bus service, however students use personal cars to commute around Orangeburg, and to major cities including the capital, Columbia and Charleston for shopping and other outings.
