Placement
Priority Placement Applications Accepted December 1 to March 1
Most students apply to do NSE during the next academic year in early March during our Priority Placement process. Each campus NSE coordinator determines eligibility for outgoing student applicants to be placed at this event and will accept applications December 1 to March 1 (individual campus deadlines may vary).
During Priority Placement, you will be accepted for exchange by only one campus on a space available basis. Each student must select a first-choice campus during Priority Placement and is encouraged to have 1-3 campus options. If your first-choice campus is not available, your placement request will then be considered by your alternate choice campuses until a placement is confirmed. Once a campus has accepted you for exchange, no further consideration will be given by other campus choices. If you are not accepted during Priority Placement, your home NSE coordinator will help you locate placement at a campus still accepting students during Direct Placements.
Direct Placement Applications Accepted March 15 to November 30
Direct placement applications are accepted March 15 to November 30 (individual campus deadlines may vary). Placements for fall can be arranged until midsummer; placements for the fall semester can be made until November 30 (individual campus deadlines may vary). The Direct Placement application process can occur quickly and is a great way to pursue your NSE options.
Direct placements are made according to exchange space availability. Placement is guaranteed if you meet minimum academic requirements. You may monitor the campuses that will accept direct placements from March 15 to November 30. Make certain that the campus you select meets your academic, financial, and personal needs prior to application.
Placement Acceptance by the Host Campus
Placement acceptances are made according to the exchange space available under the respective tuition payment plans (Home or Away) of the host institution. At Priority Placement, your requests will be considered by a potential host campus in the order in which you prioritized them. During Direct Placement, coordinators accept students as space is available. NSE coordinators make placement decisions to achieve balance with their own outgoing NSE students.
Maintaining Eligibility
Your placement is conditional upon maintaining all eligibility requirements (academic, conduct, financial) as well as any additional requirements which may have been imposed by your home campus or your host institution. Should you fail to meet any of these requirements, you are no longer eligible to participate in the NSE program and your exchange will be cancelled. If your GPA for the term preceding exchange falls below a 2.5 (4.0 scale), your exchange may be subject to cancellation by your home coordinator even though your cumulative GPA is 2.5 or higher.
