About This Campus
The University of Puerto Rico at Cayey (UPR-Cayey) is one of the campuses of the University of Puerto Rico system, established in 1970. Initially, UPR-Cayey became an independent campus in 1978, allowing it to develop its own academic programs and identity. It offers to it's 2,000 students, 24 bachelor degrees programs and 28 minors in Business Administration, Education, Sciences, Arts, Humanities, English, Hispanic Studies, Social and Behavioral sciences.
The institution emphasizes academic excellence, community service, and the promotion of research. UPR-Cayey has played a vital role in the education and development of local students, contributing to the region's economic and social progress.

Location Information
The University of Puerto Rico at Cayey, located in the mountainous central region of Puerto Rico, encompasses 145 acres of land. It’s about a 45-minute drive from the major cities of San Juan and Ponce. Historically, it served as a military base in the 1900s. The region's climate, especially during the summer, encourages various outdoor activities like fishing, scuba diving, windsurfing, sailing, and swimming, with both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea easily accessible within a short drive. This combination of location and climate makes it an attractive destination for both education and recreation.

Natural Sciences the student has to have the prerequisites completed for the science courses.
OTHER ACADEMIC INFORMATION:
The student has to speak and write the Spanish language, because our language of instruction is Spanish. The English courses are in English, most of the books in Science and Business Administration are in English too.
NOTABLE ACADEMICS PROGRAMS:
- Biology — Very structure program so the student can fulfill and get all the skills needed to go to any health graduate school.
- Business Administration — Management and Accounting majors have many minors that students can be more expertise in business.
- Chemistry — Research and quality courses that will help the student to get to graduate school , specially Pharmacy.
- Natural Sciences — Students will get all the prerequisites to transfer to any institution related to Health Studies Graduate School.
