About This Campus
Salem State University, located just 15 miles north of Boston, is one of the largest state universities in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and an important partner in the economic, cultural and intellectual vitality of the greater north-of-Boston region. Situated in the historic seacoast town of Salem, Massachusetts, Salem State provides a diverse community of learners a high quality, student-centered education which prepares them to contribute responsibly and creatively to a global society.
With over 65 groups and clubs, 17 varsity teams, a strong intramural sports program, an award-winning theater program, and hundreds of student activities scheduled throughout the year, our campus is alive and infused with an energy! Salem State has five campuses, with five residence halls and with a new hall in construction. Recently, SSU opened a new state of the art Library and Learning Commons and the Fitness and Recreation Center. We are proud of our institution and welcome NSE students!
SSU holds the prestigious Carnegie Community Engagement Classification.
