About This Campus
The University of Puerto Rico at Humacao is the only University of Puerto Rico campus located in the eastern region of the island. We offer six programs that are unique in Puerto Rico: Wildlife Management, Coastal Marine Biology, Computational Math, Social Sciences with Social Action Research, Puerto Rican and Caribbean Studies, and Data Sciences; and six others that are exclusive within the UPR system: Physics applied to electronics, Industrial Chemistry, Business Administration, Computer Science, Office Systems Management, and International Trade.
The campus places a strong emphasis on undergraduate research, especially in biology, chemistry, and environmental sciences. We have an excellent reputation for preparing students for careers in health sciences, engineering and research.
The campus has a research laboratory for marine and wildlife management studies located in the Fajardo Lighthouse and a educational and research Astronomical Observatory on campus.
Our campus has a sports complex, a Graphic Arts Center, and our owl mascots Bruno and Briana proudly represent us.
One of our most distinctive features is our educational and research Astronomical Observatory.

Humacao is known for its beautiful natural setting, surrounded by beaches and natural reserves. The municipality includes two small islands: Cayo Santiago, famous for its population of rhesus monkeys, and Cayo Batata. Humacao has a population of around 50,000 people and is located near Vieques Island.
Close by, you’ll find Palmas del Mar, a large resort community offering golf courses, a marina, restaurants, and private beaches.
