About This Campus
Austin Peay State University, founded in 1927, is a four-year public, doctoral level university located in Clarksville, Tennessee. APSU is a comprehensive university that offers both undergraduate and graduate programs designed to promote critical thinking, communication skills, creativity, and leadership. Austin Peay offers over 56 majors and 63 different concentrations. APSU provides degrees ranging from Associates to Doctoral and 90% of our professors hold a doctorate or other terminal degree! With over 10,000 students, APSU continues to pride itself on promoting diversity, appreciation of all cultures, and respect for all persons while fostering a positive campus environment that encourages active participation in university life! Helpful Information
APSU students can ride the Clarksville transit system for free and there is a free campus trolley that will take you around campus. APSU is the largest provider of higher education to military-affiliated students in TN, with 2,422 military-related students enrolled in Fall 2021. We offer a full-time Veterans Affairs counselor on campus through VetSuccess, a Student Veterans Organization, and the Newton Military Family Resource Center. Fort Campbell Military Base is a 20 min. drive from APSU.
Location Information
APSU is located near downtown Clarksville so it’s an easy walk or drive to local restaurants, museums, entertainment venues, and much more. The average temperature in Clarksville is 48°F (winter) and 80°F (summer). Clarksville is just 45 minutes northwest of Nashville, TN and the Nashville International Airport (BNA). Nashville, "Music City USA", offers many cultural and entertainment opportunities, including museum exhibits, professional sporting events, concerts, art shows, and festivals.
