Recognized as one of Massachusetts' best value colleges
Westfield State University
Westfield, Massachusetts
About This Campus
Founded in 1839 by Horace Mann, Westfield State is an education leader committed to providing every generation of students with a learning experience built on its founding principle as the first co-educational college in America to offer an education without barrier to race, creed or economic status. This spirit of innovative thinking and social responsibility is forged in a curriculum of liberal arts and professional studies that creates a vital community of engaged learners who become confident, capable individuals prepared for leadership and service to society.
Helpful Information
Incoming NSE students will have access to our International Programs Office Peer Mentors Program, as our office hosts the NSE program. The Peer Mentors will organize activities, help with arrival pick-ups and departure drop-offs, and serve as a resource on campus.
If students choose to bring their own car, they will be able to purchase parking on campus (available to both on-campus and commuter students). From Springfield, students can take public transportation to Boston, New York City, and more. There is a local PVTA bus stop on campus that travels to and from Springfield, but rideshare/taxi services are very limited.
Location Information
Westfield is part of the Springfield, MA Metropolitan Area, located about 2 hours from both Boston and Providence and about 3 hours from New York City in the southwest corner of Massachusetts. While Westfield is part of the Springfield Metro Area, it is a much smaller and quieter suburban city. We have a beautiful 256-acre tree-lined campus, which has recently been recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree Campus.
