About This Campus
East Central University has an average enrollment of 3000 students. The student faculty ratio of 19:1 ensures that students receive personal attention from faculty members. Classes are not taught by graduate assistants. Particular strengths are our programs in business, art, English, history, mass communications, psychology, and biology. Our acceptance rates to medical and law schools are exceptionally high. ECU graduates also have extremely high pass rates for the CPA exam, nursing boards, and teacher certification. The interdisciplinary Native American Studies program features courses in Chickasaw and Potawatomi. ECU also has a nationally accredited program in social work. The Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center provides exceptional facilities for students in art, media production and music.

Location Information
East Central University is situated on 100 acres in Ada, Oklahoma, headquarters of the Chickasaw Nation. Ada has a population of 17,000 and is located approximately 90 miles from Oklahoma City, 115 miles from Tulsa and 150 miles from Dallas. Our school environment is rural.

- Accounting — Our accounting graduates have a very high pass rate on the CPA exam.
- Art — Our art programs have exceptional facilities and faculty committed to interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Biology/Life Science — Our biology students have a very high acceptance rate to medical school. Many are involved in undergraduate research.
- Business — ECU's Stonecipher School of Business provides first-rate facilities, faculty who possess exceptional academic and business experience, and participation in real-world engagement activities and business competitions.
- Education — ECU began as a Teacher's College and continues to provide exceptional training for elementary and secondary school teachers.
- Mass Communication — Our Mass Communication students have extensive experiential learning experiences.
- Nursing — Nursing is the largest major on campus. Students form cohort groups that provide abundant support and collaborative training. Our state-of-the-art nursing facility will open in Fall 2026.
UNIQUE ACADEMICS PROGRAMS:
- English — What makes our English major great is our faculty! We host an annual Scissortail Creative Writing Festival that attracts writers with national and international reputations.
- Legal Studies — Our legal studies students have a 100% acceptance rate to law school.
- Native American Studies — At East Central University you can pursue Native American Studies in Native America. Our interdisciplinary program features courses in regional Native American Languages. The program also sponsors cultural activities on campus.
