Montclair State University offers a vibrant assortment of places to explore, a Theater, a Student Recreation Center and a Museum.
Helpful Information
NSE students are welcome to join in Montclair State University's notably diverse student body. In most cases, students may select courses in any of the University's Schools and Departments. Prerequisites must be satisfied for higher level courses. Portfolios may be required for some art classes and auditions may be required for some music or acting classes. On campus housing is required so that NSE students are able to take advantage of Montclair's many campus activities and clubs.
Location Information
Our park-like campus feels relaxed, safe and secluded, but it is only 45 minutes from New York City. Served by two train stations and a bus stop on campus, the university benefits from its proximity to New York City for cultural activities and faculty with in-depth professional expertise in the arts, business and communications fields. Nestled at the foot of the First Watchung Mountain, Montclair (pop. 39,000) offers restaurants, shops, movie theaters, an art museum and vibrant arts venues.
