Learn the process for making effective land management decisions for wildlife habitat maintenance and protection of ecosystem composition.
UNIQUE ACADEMICS PROGRAMS:
  • Geospatial EngineeringIf you like computing and the great outdoors, you may excel at geospatial engineering. Our students learn about geospatial systems and spatial data acquisition technologies. Learn satellite and aerial remote earth observation systems. Use aerial and terrestrial lidar, as well as Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Our curriculum includes the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and High Definition Surveying. Become familiar with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Humanitarian Engineering (minor)This interdisciplinary minor is designed to build competencies in intercultural sensitivity and community engagement. Learn to collaborate effectively with communities in the co-development of engineering solutions. Develop the skills necessary to partner with underserved communities to improve access to basic human needs. Work on a capstone project with a community on issues of water, sanitation, health care, mobility, or disaster mitigation.
  • MechatronicsRanked as best college in the US for Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering, The BS in Mechatronics at Michigan Tech is an interdisciplinary effort between the College of Computing's Department of Applied Computing and the College of Engineering's Department of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology (MMET). BS in Mechatronics coursework and labs incorporate elements of engineering, engineering technology, and computing.
