Rhode Island College is the state's first public institution of higher education, opening as the Rhode Island Normal School on May 29, 1854.

A federally recognized Green Ribbon School, RIC is committed to being a model for sustainability.

Our campus is a Level I Arboretum accredited by ArbNet, hosting 58 different species of trees.

Helpful Information

Rhode Island College is small enough to be a "big fish" in a little pond, but large enough to have the full College experience. Classroom sizes for the most part are small, allowing the faculty and students to really know each other and learn the material.
