#1 Best Value School in Texas public universities, U.S. News and World Report 22
Texas A&M University
College Station, Texas
About This Campus
Texas A&M University was established in 1876 and its original function was as a military institution. The Corps of Cadets still plays an important role at A&M, but in 1965 membership The Corps was changed from mandatory to voluntary. Since then, life at Texas A&M has evolved into an eclectic academic community with deep-seated traditions held over from its early days. Our campus, known as Aggieland, is home to more than 73,000 students with another 5,200 at our branch campuses around Texas and in Qatar. We offer over 1200 student organizations and clubs that will help fill your time while at A&M. We are a proud member of the Southeastern Conference, competing at the NCAA Division 1-A level in 20 varsity sports. Our program has a rich history that includes perhaps one of the greatest traditions in collegiate athletics: The 12th Man. In our Recreational Sports we're home to 34 student sport clubs and one of the largest intramural programs in the nation.
#7 in the nation in the Best Colleges for Veterans, U.S. News & World Report 22
#7 in the Nation in the "Best Value Schools" category among AAU Universities
Helpful Information
We highly recommend that students come with flexibility regarding their coursework. With a university of over 73,000 students, it can be very hard to guarantee specific classes that are also highly sought out by A&M degree seeking students. We will do our best to work with the student prior to acceptance to see if they meet course requirements for them to assist with making their decision.
Location Information
Texas A&M’s main campus in College Station is located in the heart of the Houston-Dallas-Austin triangle and within a two-hour drive of 26 million of the state’s 28 million residents.
