- Engineering - The College is also the largest of its kind in Puerto Rico. It is the first producer of Hispanic engineers in the United States of America, according to the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE). Our long established undergraduate engineering programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Unique Academic Programs
- Geology - Our department is the largest research and teaching earth science department in the Caribbean region. The UPRM Geology department has graduated more Hispanic geoscientists than any other academic unit in the U.S. university system and currently offers programs of study leading to Bachelor’s and Master’s of science degrees in Geology. https://www.uprm.edu/geology/
- Marine Sciences - It's a M.S. and Ph.D. program, NSE students could take 2 courses (no field practice).

- The language of instruction is Spanish. Students must demonstrate Spanish language proficiency on their home campus prior to placement. If the student only wants to take our courses taught in English, language proficiency is not required.
