About This Campus

Dillard University a four-year private liberal arts HBCU and member of the United Methodist Church and the United Church of Christ. Dillard is Louisiana's first HBCU, born from the union of Straight College and New Orleans University. Our average class size is 18, and our student to faculty ratio is 14:1. Notable Academic Programs

  • Center for Racial Justice - Engages students and the community on issues of racial justice and promotes partnerships with law enforcement, graduate and professional schools.
  • Pre-Law Program - Diversifies the legal profession by training students in law and providing advising for law school admissions and assistance for internships. The Pre-Law program is also home to one of the nation's premier mock trial teams and growing debate teams.
  • Pre-health Advising program - Supports students in pre-health career decision-making process including professional school test preparation and mentoring.
  • Ray Charles Program in African American Material Culture - Researches, documents, disseminates, preserves and celebrates African American culture and foodways in the South to understand how African, Caribbean, European and American Cultures coalesced to create a culture that is uniquely African American. The program also takes a deeper look at how African American culture is portrayed and taught in an effort to not only preserve but to take ownership of the culture.
  • Minority Health and Health Equity Research Center - Takes the comprehensive approach to advancing research about the overall quality of health for racial and ethnic minorities.
