Each year, more than 400 employers come to campus to recruit Huskies at our Career Fairs.
- Human Biology - Learn in up-to-date labs and research facilities, with access to some of the most advanced technology in the industry, like our new $53 million H-STEM Complex. The H-STEM Complex provides a state-of-the-art teaching facility in industry-relevant, STEM-based educational and research programs in health and human-centered engineering, as well as research labs for health-related STEM studies.
You can work on advanced DNA analysis, confocal microscopy, cell sorting, chromatography, and more.
You’ll utilize our Anatomage Tables- think life-sized human cadaver meets iPad- in your human anatomy labs in the new $53 million H-STEM Complex.
Unique Academic Programs
- Mechatronics - Ranked as best college in the US for Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering, The BS in Mechatronics at Michigan Tech is an interdisciplinary effort between the College of Computing's Department of Applied Computing and the College of Engineering's Department of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology (MMET). BS in Mechatronics coursework and labs incorporate elements of engineering, engineering technology, and computing. What sets this degree program apart is the way it brings together engineering and computing to create something entirely new. This convergence is the very essence of “Industry 4.0” and the future of manufacturing and industry.
- Geospatial Engineering - What if you had a high-tech job, but spent your work day outside, enjoying nature and fresh air each day? If you like computing and the great outdoors, you may excel at geospatial engineering. Our students learn about geospatial systems and spatial data acquisition technologies. Such methods rely on high-precision optical and electromechanical instruments. Learn satellite and aerial remote earth observation systems. Use aerial and terrestrial lidar, as well as Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Our curriculum includes the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and High Definition Surveying. Become familiar with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Try out traditional surveying technologies and other options in the geospatial engineering toolbox.
- Theatre and Entertainment Technology - Picture this: you master the art of the backstage and land your dream job in the entertainment industry at a leading company, like Disney or Electronic Theatre Controls.
At Michigan Tech, you can make this vision a reality with a Bachelor of Science in Theatre and Entertainment Technology. With the integration of studies in art and design with engineering technology or business, you will become a well-educated professional who blends solid technical expertise with innovation, artistry, and creativity.
If you have ever imagined yourself behind the scenes of a theatre or entertainment production—perfecting scenery, lighting, costumes, makeup, sound, and management—the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Michigan Tech is the place for you.
- Medical Laboratory Science - Gain hands-on experience in hematology, blood banking,
immunology, molecular biology, clinical chemistry,
medical terminology, microbiology, and anatomy and
physiology. Work in the student simulated MLS lab on
clinical samples alongside professors who are among
the best in the field. Plus, benefit from small class sizes,
personal advising, and one-on-one faculty interaction.
- Humanitarian Engineering (minor) - This interdisciplinary minor is designed to build competencies in intercultural sensitivity and community engagement. Learn to collaborate effectively with communities in the co-development of engineering solutions. Develop the skills necessary to partner with underserved communities to improve access to basic human needs. Work on a capstone project with a community on issues of water, sanitation, health care, mobility, or disaster mitigation.
