About the Program
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire created the University Honors Program in 1983. It admits incoming freshmen who are in the upper 5% of their high school class and who also have an ACT composite of at least 28 or SAT scores of at least 1300. It also admits students who have completed 15 credits and have at least an A- average with an ACT composite of at least 26. At any one time, between 350 and 375 students are participating in the program. The honors program offers courses, which apply to General Education of College requirements, and are limited to no more than 20 students. Two types of courses are offered: Colloquia, which are special honors interdisiplinary courses, and Electives, which are special sections of regular courses.
