NAU Anthropology Senior Lecturer and TAO Founder Dr. Britton Shepardson leads NAU students through a once-in-a-lifetime experiential program to develop Spanish language and professional skills, research experience, and lasting intercultural relationships.
In this program, students will gain firsthand experience working in the TAO non-profit educational outreach program with local high school students in the Sacred Valley of Peru. Students will also participate in intern rotations in a variety of operations within the World’s Leading Expedition Company of 2019, Explora (source: World Travel Awards).This experience will help students develop a meaningful understanding of how culture, environment, and commerce intertwine in efforts to achieve sustainable development.
The interdisciplinary nature of this program means that students from various disciplines can apply! Students can earn up to 6.00 credits in Anthropology, Hospitality & Restaurant management, Parks and Recreation Management, Education, Geography, or Environmental Sciences.
